Oak Lawn Alpacas started in 2006 when Connie decided to change careers. Having raised our 3 children and living in a small village for 22 years, we were ready for a change. We purchased 62 acres of farmland in 1999 and built a home in 2001. Being that both of us were both born and raised in southern Wisconsin and started in dairy farming, the call to rural Wisconsin life was an easy choice. We often joke about our start. Connie had said she was going to quit her job and when Don asked what she was going to do, she stated we were going to raise alpacas. Needless to say, Don quickly learned what an alpaca was and our first barn was constructed. Our first purchase was two alpacas from one farm and one female from a second farm. And as the saying goes, the rest is history.
Connie handles all of the daily Alpaca duties as well as her other job as a domestic engineer. Don is actively involved in the operations and also is CEO of a manufacturing plant located in Watertown, Wisconsin. We can talk about the financial side of the business as well as the husbandry side.
We love to talk about our alpacas and the relaxing atmosphere of a small alpaca farm in the wonderful farm country of southern Wisconsin. Please join us at our farm where you can get hands on experience with alpacas.
